About

Availa is an AI study app for college students.

You upload the slides, notes and PDFs from your classes. Availa turns them into clean notes, quizzes and practice tests, then brings back the questions you are about to forget. A tutor answers questions about your class and cites the slide or the minute of the lecture it came from.

What Availa is

Availa is study software. It lives at availalearn.com and in the Availa app. It is made by Availa LLC, a software company in Boston, Massachusetts.

Students use Availa to study for exams from their own course material instead of a generic study set. Every class gets its own space. Everything you add to a class makes the notes, the practice tests and the tutor for that class better.

Who makes it

Availa was founded in 2026 by Matthew Lee, a college student in Boston, after he got tired of pasting lecture transcripts into a chat window and starting from zero every time. He uses Availa for his own classes every week. What breaks for him gets fixed first.

How it studies with you

  • Notes written from your professor's slides and words, not a textbook summary.
  • Practice tests built from each lecture and each document you add.
  • Active recall and spaced repetition, so review lands right before you would forget.
  • A tutor that answers from your class and shows you where the answer came from.
  • Recording, when your professor allows it, with the transcript linked to the audio.

Why this works is written up in our guide to active recall and how to get a 4.0 in college.
